What's the Big News?
This is my countdown week.

January 27th I should officially get to use my "walking boot".  I've been "bad" though.  In addition to my resistance exercises, I put on the walking boot ahead of schedule and I'm putting a small percentage of my weight on it as I use my walker and support most of my weight with my hands.  I'm pretty sure that as long as I am careful about the way I do this and don't overdo it, that it will actually help me be more mobile by next week.

Dr. McInnes says that when I can walk, I'll also be able to drive.  I am so looking forward to not being dependent on taxicabs for commuting home from work (Tom's been driving me to work in the morning which is above and beyond what I ever expected).

You can't see it, but I further "objectified" my Perl script that creates my visitor statistics page by putting the counter coding into a module.  The impetus for this was that I wanted to dynamically assign a beginning and ending number for the page so that I was never serving more than 200 records out of the mysql database.

What hi-tech projects am I working on?
I'm reading about samba but it is slow going.

The BFREE website is still down, and we are working on getting it back up.

What else is going on in my life?
I just found out the company I work for is opening another office in Alaska.  Ah, the responsibilities keep mounting.

I'm also preparing for my first inter-state managers' meeting.  It's hard to complain.  The managers' meeting is pretty exciting and so is opening new offices, but it does seem that I am working longer and longer hours and never getting to the point where I can actually study the stuff I'm working on.

Any nature observances of interest?
Snow and ice is much more interesting in Bothell...  and I don't necessarily mean in a good way.  We have had power outages already this winter, one of them lasted 11 hours.  We are starting to think about generators....
