What's the Big News?
I've passed many milestones... about 3 per day.  Doc says he doesn't want me to start running or jumping up and down stairs until May 15th.  He told me this because he can see that I'm healing rapidly and I'm already doing more than expected for this period, and with less swelling.

Yesterday I had the day.  That is, for about 2 seconds I got confused and didn't remember which leg had the most recent surgery.  Over the weekend I went hiking on a narrow wooded trail.  It was only about half a mile, but it was easy.  The last time I was capable of navigating a trail like that was about 20 years ago.

What's new or updated on Alwanza?
This page is new, and the March colors, and that's about it.  I was so exhausted and I worked such long hours the last 2 weeks that I didn't have much time for Alwanza.

What hi-tech projects am I working on?
I started Seattle LinuxChix meetings again and I'm going to get them going regularly now.

I enrolled in my 3rd and final Java class at NSCC.  After this class I will have my prerequisites for UW Bothell and I can enroll in their Computer Science degree program.

I already have plenty of degrees, but if I ever get laid off and need to get another job again, I don't want the HR at some company to use the excuse that I don't have a CS degree to choose the other candidate (again).  I happen to think that doing so is age discrimination, because when I went to school originally, there was no such thing as a Computer Science degree (maybe there were 2 or 3 Universities in the entire USA that had Computer Science programs - my University had only one Computer Science class:  Basic Programming, which I took and aced).

What else is going on in my life?
Mary just returned from 2 weeks of vacation during which I was the sole IT support for about 200 employees scattered in 20 offices over the US and Canada.  I learned a lot in a hurry.  I think I'll be better prepared for it next time, but there is still so much for me to learn!

Any nature observances of interest?
Tom completed my greenhouse and I planted seeds.  Many of the seeds are several years old and I'm not sure how well they will germinate.

Tom and I made an improvement to our birdfeeding station.  We hung a 9 foot limb between 2 poles.  The limb is beautiful driftwood.  And we hung our birdfeeders from the limb.

We also hung up our squirrel corn-bungee feeder, at a different place in the yard than the bird feeder.  Our squirrels are having a blast on it!

We've seen the waterfowl doing the neck-bobbing thang.  Tom found a special place to park and watch blue herons.  We went there last Friday night and stayed watching 5 or 6 of them for more than an hour:  better than wild animals on TV!
