Current Projects

What's the Big News?
Oh I have been busy-busy!  With my current post ankle-surgery confinement, I have been taking the opportunity to complete personal web and server projects that have been on my "to-do" list for ages.

My ankle feels like it is recovering well, but we'll know more when Dr.  McInnes reexamines it tomorrow morning.

What's new or updated on Alwanza?
Thanks to the enforced confinement from my ankle surgery, this question has almost become redundant.  I now have a web page devoted to tracking changes on my website, What's New

For the next three weeks the results are going to be a little screwy, though.  I discovered that I never completely updated my contact links on several of my pages after my last IP address change.  I remedied that and as a result, several pages will show up on "What's New" with their only change being where the "contact" link points.

What hi-tech projects am I working on?
I'm learning PHP.

What else is going on in my life?
I made a radical diet change after my surgery.  I cut out chocolate.  I'm hoping this is only a temporary change because chocolate is just about my only vice.  And without a vice, how can you get a grip on yourself?  I did it because my digestive tract, especially esophagus, epiglottis, required urgent repair.  My gallbladder is the root cause of my "acid reflux" and (since I rarely indulge in coffee, alcohol, fatty or fried foods) chocolate was the only gallbladder irritater remaining in my diet.

I've also cut way back on wheat again, as I was showing signs of vitamin deficiencies which could only be caused by malabsorption.  And, I'm eating a raw leafy green salad at least once a day.

I've been doing this for only 2 weeks and the results are already significant.  I'm going to let my body tell me when I can reintroduce a little chocolate again, but it is going to be months before I can have even a little every day.  I'm going to have to figure out how to live without a daily chocolate habit.  I'm also re-researching how to fix my gallbladder without surgery.

Any nature observances of interest?
Before undergoing surgery, I filled all the birdfeeders.  The hummingbird feeder and shade garden seed-feeder have already needed to be refilled once.  Emptied in two weeks!  I can see the birds in the shade garden when I sit at my computer.

We already had our first hail storm of November and there have been mornings when the grass is frosted.  We've also had thunderstorms and lots of wind and rain.  Today it is unusually sunny.  Mostly the cloud-cover has been heralding our winter.
