What's new or updated on Alwanza?
I've applied new February colors. I dislike changing colors more than once per month because it is just too much work, particularly this month, since I am swamped with projects, but it had to be done.... Nice as those hearts were, a full month of them was starting to make me queasy.
My calendar link works again. It now links to a fairly smart Perl script. I figured out I could be using a pre-made Module, and I redesigned the script and cut my own coding by two thirds.
I've also split my resume into 3 different ones.
What hi-tech projects am I working on?
Sherri Edwards liked the changes I proposed and I spent way too much time redoing her site. At least in the future I'll know how much time this takes (15 hours) but the results were definitely worthwhile.
I was given a big fish to fry three weeks ago and I still haven't gotten to it much yet. I've been taking care of other stuff that I had neglected for too long.
I still need to start doing some volunteer work for BFREE because I received 677 new photos last week. I'm thinking about implementing something like Joel's picture database, but that is a project for when I have some free time on my hands.
What else is going on in my life?
My interview of Isles (August 2014 link removed because page no longer exists) is now published on the Web. That was a project that was low on my priority list so it wound up taking too much time from the time I first proposed it until the time it was completed, but it is a good one. It's nice to have more writing of mine published on other sites.
I still need to line up some speakers and install parties for Seattle Linux Chix and advertise them. But I'm making progress here. I lined up a room to rent at NSCC, so now I have a public place to advertise.
I'm still looking for employment. Although at least for the moment I'm not entirely panicked about my Unemployment benefits running out in March. I think freelancing might work out for me.
Any nature observances of interest?
Tom and I spent last weekend van-camping on Lopez. We stayed at Odlin park. We saw lots of pintails, a couple of eagles, buffleheads, plus the usual mallards, cormorants.... I expected to see lots of grebes, but there were hardly any.
The daphne is blooming, the cherry blossoms are in full bloom. The weather report says "Snow on the mountains" but I'm doubting them. The temperature has dropped to 50 degrees!
