What's new or updated on Alwanza?
The July colors are new.  For months I haven't had a moment to spare.  I never did get around to applying May colors.  The last update I completed was in March!

I added some new Midis to the index page.  I often wonder how many people realize I have midi links on that page.  Hint:  there are 3 of them.

What hi-tech projects am I working on?
I still need to start doing some volunteer work for BFREE.  I'm horribly behind on my freelancing.

What I have been doing is busting my butt trying to learn my new job as quickly as possible and trying to stay on top of an enormous amount of work.  I'm starting to feel like some of it is falling into place.

What else is going on in my life?
I've been concentrating on learning the tasks associated with my new position.  As Manager of the IT Department (System Administrator, Network Administrator, Office "Computer Guy") I have a huge number of technologies that I'm supposed to know and apply.  I'm doing user support and accounting support.  I'm doing remote support for 10 offices, 5 in Alaska, 2 in downtown Seattle, 1 in Tacoma, and 2 in Vancouver B.C.; as well as the local Mountlake Terrace office of 33 users.

I'm administering RedHat Linux Servers, SCO Unix Servers, desktops (Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows XP Professional) and laptops (Windows XP, WindowsME, Windows98).  I'm administering Firewalls and doing pretty damn well for someone who has yet to be trained....  I'm looking forward to the training - I'd like to understand what I'm doing a little better.

Any nature observances of interest?
I believe that late Spring through Early Summer is the most beautiful time in Seattle and I have a hard time believing that any place else could compare.  I've been so busy though, I haven't had nearly enough time to enjoy it.  I did a little weeding this last weekend and my garden needs more badly.

Tom and I have gone on canoe rides, though, in our new aluminum canoe.  We've also gone swimming a lot.  Mostly we've been house hunting.  The grapes are graping, the apples are abundant and as big as children's fists, and we are looking to move.  We need a place all on one floor, but tiny as it is, our current cottage is going to be hard to leave.

Today I had my first sighting of a hummingbird in our yard.  An Anna's was flying around our backyard this morning.

It has been unseasonably hot and dry in Seattle this Summer.  I wish it would do this every year.
