What's the Big News?
I'm improving by leaps and bounds. I'm not quite leaping and bounding yet, but seems as if I might be sometime in the not-too-distant future.
I walked half a mile today - almost half way to the supermarket and back. I've graduated to weight-bearing exercises and I'm doing well with them.
In celebration of my regained ability to walk, Tom put the door back on the bathroom (without the removal of the door, the entrance to the bathroom was too narrow for my walker). He dismantled the 3-shallow-step platform he made for me to use to get outside the front door and is now reusing the materials to build a small greenhouse for me in the backyard. .... the joys of being married to a great husband.
What's new or updated on Alwanza?
I've added more links to many of my external link pages, including my Geek links page and Friends page.
Alwanza has been getting a ton of email. I will be going through that mail this week. There are some emails from as early as August that I haven't answered.
My Growing Long Hair page continues to be the most popular and I've even been getting emails from women who identify themselves as African American and black. I'm pleased about this because it means that the page has broad appeal. I'm doing my best to learn about black hair because it is the hair I know least about and I want to respond to these women with good information.
What hi-tech projects am I working on?
No changes since last week. I've been a little slow with personal projects so all my efforts have been the ones I'm making at work, and even those have been slow going.
At work I'm formatting a new Linux server for our Valdez office. Other than that, I've been spending extra time at work, cleaning viruses out of user's desktops.
The BFREE website is still down, and we are working on getting it back up.
What else is going on in my life?
I've got a bad case of bill payer's procrastination which I'd better shake within the next 2 days.
Any nature observances of interest?
We took a road trip to Stanwood, LaConner, and Fir Island this weekend. We saw the fields of snow geese. Our van still needs to be fixed, we took my car and didn't stay over night.
The witchhazel that I purchased last fall during its dormant state (I thought it might have been dead) has burst into bloom. Our dawn vibirnum is covered with clusters of fragrant tiny pink flowers. I may need to buy another to get the white flowers, too.
Our Hinoki cypress does not look happy. We might lose it this year. If we do, we'll replace it with another shore pine. Tom says that part of giving our yard a "natural" look involves having more than one tree of the same variety, otherwise it looks too "planted". The theory makes sense to me.
