What's the Big News?
I think I may finally be shedding some pounds. I am now running (at a slow running pace, faster than a jog) the entire quarter mile daily. If I take it at jog speed I can do half a mile. I started this running program last December. It is now almost April. That's four months that I persisted before seeing any benefit in my weight. So is this my minimum, one and a half miles running per week plus four miles walking (or something very close to that)? That's not bad. That should be doable.
At work, the server I am setting up for Whittier is almost done. I've been at it 3 days. I may be setting a new company record. Sometimes when I tell the story about my dyslexia and how it takes me a very long time to learn things but that once I do I learn them more completely than anyone I've ever known, it sounds phony or exaggerated to me (and I can't imagine how it sounds to others). But it is absolutely true.
What's new or updated on Alwanza?
I finally posted the "Story of Humbaba". It is linked to my homepage by the text I've had for it there all along, "if a tree falls in the Cedar forest, who hears it?"
What hi-tech projects am I working on?
I mentioned the Whittier server already. I also ordered 3 new desktops and 3 new laptops yesterday. It is going to be a busy Spring at work.
There is one more day of work that I have to do on the Valdez server now that it is in Valdez. I need to transfer data from the old to the new and transfer the smb licenses.
At home, I'm working on getting SASL working on my mailserver so that I can use Speakeasy as my "smart host". I should see how that turns out today.
What else is going on in my life?
I already mentioned that I might have started shedding some weight. At least I'm sure I'm no longer gaining (for a while I was doing a little bulking).
Tom is in the process of cutting a hole for a door in our bedroom. This is in preparation for the hottub we plan to install this year. We've been talking about hottubs for years. And now that we are both exercising, both employed, it seems like the right time to make the purchase.
Spring must be in the air again. My fantasy life has gone wild lately. I'm hoping I can channel it into something beneficial and creative.
Any nature observances of interest?
I saw a rufus hummingbird at my hummingbird feeder this week. That means the summer birds have returned early.
Tom thinks the mole (gopher) has gone looking for greener pastures. I hope so. The patches of dirt have stopped showing up in the back and now they are in the dandelion patch in front that is between our property and the neighbors. That means that it didn't find my vegetable garden (in back) and so far has not found our flower garden.
